ABOUT US

Company History

Barnum Mechanical Inc.’s reputation for functional designs and installations has helped our company grow from a one man show starting in 1980 to what we are today - a process design/build contractor with in-house engineering and full time field installation crews. In the 1980s BMI immediately established a good reputation for quality workmanship that often lead to the installation of sanitary and utility process piping systems for every aspect of beverage production including, but not limited to, syrup room batching and transfer systems, installation of carbocoolers and fillers, CIP systems, water treatment systems, boilers, CO 2 systems, and chillers.

In 1994 we opened American Stainless Equipment, a process company that distributes sanitary fittings, valves, pumps, etc. They are currently a master distributor for Waukesha-Cherry Burrell. We keep this business completely separate from Barnum Mechanical so that we can have the freedom to choose the right device i.e., pump, valve, or instrument for the application, regardless of manufacturer.

Our Process design knowledge is respected throughout the trade with ongoing requests for consultation from the engineering staffs at Nestles USA, Coca-Cola Enterprises, Pepsi Cola Inc., Admiral Beverage, Naumes Foods Inc, Sierra Nevada Brewery, Perrier, Capri-Sun, Kagome Foods Inc., Pokka Beverages, Southwest Canners, and Kraft General Foods.

We prefer to establish, through maintenance of consistent high quality standards, a working relationship which complements all parties for many years. By recognizing the need for companies to be able to work with contractors familiar with their systems, the risk of sharing trade secrets for new product developments or process procedures is minimized. Pride in workmanship and our willingness to understand and provide a fully functional process system has earned BMI high marks. BMI goes to great lengths to work directly with plant personnel to install a reliable system capable of meeting and often exceeding the most stringent project goals, including budget and deadline.
